6 Ways to Cope with a Hangover

Posted on March 21, 2016

The dreaded hangover. A few woblipops at the pregame, a couple alcoholic sodas at the bar, and the next thing you know, a pounding headache the next morning which feels similar to what I would imagine being hit by a train feels like. This is usually my morning routine following a big night out:

  1. Roll around in pain for a few seconds as I try to orient myself.
  2. Wake up and say to myself, "Wow Russell, you really let your hair down last night."
  3. Chug water while telling myself that I'll never drink again.
  4. Try unsuccessfully to fall back asleep for the next two hours.

Sound somewhat familiar? We've all been there and yet we never seem to learn. So rather than writing another BS "10 ways to cure your hangover" blog you can find across the internet, we're taking a different approach. Here are our top 6 ways for making the most of your miserable hangover while never leaving your bed:

1. "CUDDLING"

While it might not cure your hangover, this great activity should definitely help take your mind off of the pounding headache you're experiencing. Also, if your morning "cuddling" escalates, you might be able to sweat out some of the alcohol from last night's festivities.

2. WATCH SNAP STORIES FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE

Going over the highlights of everyone else's night out will definitely not help your hangover. That said, it might make you feel better that others are sharing in your misery. Additionally, it provides a great distraction and can take your mind off your current situation.

3. REVIEW YOUR TEXTS FROM LAST NIGHT

I have a love/hate relationship with my phone whenever I'm having a few adult beverages. Sometimes it results in this:

A few quick things to point out here.

  1. What in the world was I doing up at 4:52am?
  2. Why in the world would I ever ask that question?
  3. Cuddling while eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches just sounds difficult and messy. I'm glad I clarified that they can be separate activities.

Regardless of how weird or embarrassing your texts from the night before might be, they'll always make for a good read and usually a laugh while lying in your bed the next morning.

If you didn't have any good texts from the night before, you can live vicariously through these people by visiting Texts From Last Night

4. FINISH OFF THE REMAINING BEER NEXT TO YOUR BED

This absolute savage move that might actually help your hangover. Just roll over, grab that warm, leftover beer, take a few swigs and you'll feel better in no time.

5. BINGE WATCH NETFLIX

While this is never a bad decision, when you're hungover and miserable, this is a brilliant decision. These shows will make you forget about that stupid headache and give you an excuse to spend a lazy Sunday in bed. If you need some recommendations on what shows to watch check out our "Bedtime Shows & Movies" blog post.

6. ORDER IN BREAKFAST

Absolute no brainer. You need something to soak up all that booze from the night before. A nice breakfast delivered to your door featuring a cup of coffee, some eggs, a few pieces of toast, and maybe even a smoothie is the perfect remedy for your misery.

It should be said, by no means are we supporting binge drinking or irresponsible behavior. In fact, we would urge you to avoid aggressively drinking. With that said, we understand that there are times when you have one or four too many piña coladas at the bar. For those hopefully infrequent occurrences, we offer you our support by providing 6 ways to make your hangover at least a little more bearable.
